THE JAVORNICA CAVE "GOLUBINKA"
The Javornica cave is located on the south side of the river Cetina near the village Kučiće, to be precise 300m upstream from the part called Tisne stine.
The opening of the cave faces the north west and it is only 30m away from the river Cetina, with a height of 20-25m and 18m in width.
The interior of the cave has a constant rise of a rocky and moist soil, it becomes narrower towards the end and reaches a depth of 50m .
The Javornica cave is an interesting archaeological site.
At the entrance to the cave, there are two so-called „klačine“ that were used for the production of lime(material for the construction of houses ).
Inside the cave two amphorae were found, indicating the period of 1-2. cen.B.C
Amphorae of this type were used for the transportation of oil and wine.
Since the Javornica cave was not suitable for housing, due to its rugged terrain and extremely high humidity, it leads us to believe that it was used for short-term stays and also to store a variety of goods.
There is an assumption that the Javornica cave was used for religious and cult purposes by men from that period.
